RTA Improving Service to Customers The RTA is continually investing in major projects that improve and expand our service to our customers. We have recently successfully expanded our streetcar lines, bringing economic development to both business and residential corridors and adding mobility options and connectivity between all modes of transit provided in the community. North Rampart Street/ St. Claude Avenue Streetcar Project The North Rampart Street/ St. Claude Avenue Streetcar Expansion Project is part of the Regional Transit Authority’s French Quarter Streetcar expansion project. The first phase of the program included construction of streetcar track along 1.6 miles in the left travel lane adjacent to the neutral ground on both sides between Canal Street and Elysian Fields Avenue. The plans include a dedicated bicycle lane on the lakeside of the street. Bus Shelters The RTA has also installed over 200 shelters in the City of New Orleans to improve comfort, safety, and convenience for riders with future plans for more installations. RTA Bus Shelters - Current & Proposed Locations Bus Signage The RTA is replacing every bus stop sign throughout our system with new ones. Website If you were familiar with our old website, you certainly agree the website you are looking at now is a great improvement. The attractive design, expanded content, and new tools such as the trip planner and text alerts make using our transit system easy. MyRTA With your MyRTA account, you can buy your passes and set up automated recurring pass purchases, customize the system map to show your favorite bus and streetcar lines, and receive service alerts about your favorite lines by text directly to your phone or in your email inbox. You can securely save your credit card, shipping, and product preferences for quick shopping in the online store. Real-Time Arrival Information The Regional Transit Authority is dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and efficient service to our riders. We are also committed to providing passengers with the information they need about our services, schedules, any delays or disruptions in service, and more. The RTA has embarked on an exciting project to bring much improved real time data to passengers by entering a procurement process to replace all of our GPS and vehicle locator systems with new technology, which will greatly improve the real-time location data from our vehicles. This will enable us to provide accurate real-time bus and streetcar arrival data to passengers. Until this technology upgrade is complete, the agency will be providing schedule data only on all official RTA applications and here on the RTA website. Please check back and subscribe to our Rider’s Digest Newsletter for updates on our progress! Pass and Fare Improvements Paying for your fare is easier than ever with the many new, more convenient ways to purchase passes. With the GoMobile app riders can buy passes instantly using their smartphones. Riders may also order passes online and have them delivered to their homes. Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) are available at major transfer points, and now there are even more RTA Retail Vendors selling passes in stores throughout the city.
