Temporary Ferry The RTA is making temporary changes to the Canal Street – Algiers Point route work on the Canal Street Ferry terminal continues. These adjustments are expected to last through mid-October. Beginning Tuesday, August 24 through Thursday, August 27, ferry service along the Canal Street – Algiers Point route will be suspended. A temporary terminal-to-terminal bus shuttle will be provided beginning at 6 AM departing from the Algiers Point ferry terminal. The final shuttle will leave the Canal Street ferry terminal at 8:45PM. See full hours below. On Friday, August 27, ferry service will resume servicing Algiers Point to the temporary terminal at Mardi Gras World. During this time ferry service hours will be reduced with the first vessel leaving Algiers Point at 6AM and the last ferry leaving Mardi Gras World at 6:30PM. A shuttle bus will be provided at no additional cost, bringing riders to the Canal Street terminal. While at the temporary location the ferry cannot accommodate bikes, scooters, or wheelchairs. Passengers needing ADA service should contact the Rideline at 504-248-2900 for assistance in scheduling direct service via RTA’s paratransit services. There will be no parking or pedestrian access at Mardi Gras World. All ferry riders will need to board the shuttle at the pickup location at the Canal St. Ferry terminal and brought to the temporary location. Riders are encouraged to pre-purchase their fare using the RTA GoMobile app. Masks are required on-board all RTA buses, ferries, streetcars, and paratransit vehicles.
