Self-Driving Autonomous Shuttle Demonstration in New Orleans

(Jan. 26, 2017) New Orleans— Ride in a Self-Driving Automated Transit Vehicle when the Alliance for Transportation Innovation (ATI21) Road Trip comes to New Orleans on Monday, January 30, 2017 at New Orleans’ Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from Julia St. to Hall D.

New Orleans is the latest stop on a multi-city, cross-country road trip presented by Transdev, with support from EasyMile, the City of New Orleans, Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, and the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) in New Orleans. The tour aims to give people across the country an introduction to the latest self-driving transit vehicle technology.

Transdev is a leader in providing mobility solutions, including the operation of Autonomous Vehicle (AV) passenger shuttles, and as the private operating partner of the RTA. Transdev will showcase how AV Shuttles can be part of an integrated regional transportation system in its’ ongoing Strategic Mobility Planning Process that will develop a 20-year vision of mobility in New Orleans on behalf of the RTA. The vehicle on display will be an EasyMile EZ10 fully autonomous driverless shuttle. During the test ride, the EZ10 will demonstrate its capabilities and allow media, local business leaders, government officials, and citizens an opportunity to experience this technology first hand.

In addition to opportunities to ride the autonomous vehicle, there will be short remarks about how New Orleans can become a leader in the deployment of self-driving vehicles. Members of the public are also invited to take a test ride between 1pm – 2pm.
