Streetcar Charters The RTA's streetcars are charming, attractive, and timeless, so it's no surprise that groups and individuals often wish to book them for private events. How much does it cost to charter a streetcar? Charters start at $1,000 per trip and price can vary depending on the requested itinerary. Each time a streetcar leaves the station counts as an individual charter. For example, a charter to a destination with a pickup later in the day with a return trip to a second destination would be two charters. How far in advance can I book a streetcar charter? Typically, streetcar charters are booked up to a year in advance. What are the routes? Streetcars along all of RTA's lines are available for charter. No, you can choose your own pick-up and drop-off locations along the route. For example, if you are booking a charter for a wedding, you may choose to have the streetcar pick up your wedding guests at a hotel and then drop them off at a church for the ceremony. But please keep in mind: If your group chooses to use the streetcar for only a portion of the trip, the full price must still be paid. The streetcar can only drop off or pick up passengers at the agreed-upon locations. It cannot stop along the route. Each chartered trip must be completed in one single block of time. So for example, if you want a streetcar that carried guests to a church for a ceremony to return an hour later in order to bring them back to the hotel, the return trip would count as a second charter and cost another trip. Are food and drink allowed on chartered streetcars? Yes, guest may bring food and non-alcoholic beverages on chartered streetcars. Beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages, however, are not permitted. In addition, only paper or plastic containers (no glass or metal) are permitted on streetcars. Smoking is not allowed on streetcars. Can I decorate the chartered streetcar for my event? Yes, you can decorate the streetcar you're chartering. The streetcar will be available an hour before departure time if you wish to decorate it. To make decorations easy to remove once the trip is over, all attachments must be made with string. Adhesive sprays, stickers, or anything that would damage the streetcar's finish cannot be used. In addition, the RTA may disallow any signs or decorations that we think are inappropriate. Terms and Conditions of Charters These terms are in alignment with the Regional Transit Authority’s mission, which in part, “is to provide safe and sustainable mobility services to the citizens of New Orleans.” Streetcar charter services are prohibited from interrupting public transit services. To ensure “efficient use of resources,” private charters cannot exceed an hour and forty five (45) minutes. PAYMENT: Each charter has a base cost of $1,000.00 per streetcar. A 10% deposit or $100 (whichever is greater) per streetcar booked is due to reserve requested charter date. Final payment is due 30 days prior to trip date. Reservations made less than 30 days prior to the trip date must be paid in full by check or money order at the time of booking. A $30 fee will be charged for any checks that are returned to RTA by the bank. Payment in full is required before the RTA can execute your charter. Methods of payment are cashier’s check, certified check, and money order made payable to Regional Transit Authority. CANCELLATION: Customer will receive a full refund on the deposit if the trip is cancelled 30 days prior to the departure date. Customer will be charged 50% of the total transportation amount if cancellation is made 29 – 7 days prior to departure date. There is no refund if cancelled six days or less prior to departure date. Tardiness by charterer at the designated departure location may be interpreted as a cancellation, in such case, your full payment will be forfeited. WEATHER POLICY: Customers may reschedule their trip without penalty. This notice must be received 12 hours prior to departure time. If customer cancels and does not reschedule, refer to our cancellation policy for the cancellation fee. Cancellations after our driver has reported will result in forfeiture of full payment. REFUND POLICY: Once a charter has been completed you are ineligible for a refund. Unforeseeable components such as traffic, weather and mechanical problems do not warrant a refund. The RTA makes every effort to be prompt for each charter, but cannot guarantee exact arrival or departure times. CONDUCT: The Regional Transit Authority may terminate charter agreement if charterer and/or guests conduct becomes abusive/ disorderly with forfeiture of any and all fees. Any damages caused by you or your charter guests will be assessed and a fee will be administered. Smoking is prohibited on all Regional Transit Authority vehicles. FOOD AND DECORATIONS: Charterer is allowed one (1) hour for decorating. All decorations are subject to approval by the RTA. Decorations of negative or controversial nature are not allowed. Unauthorized signage or any other object displayed on the interior or exterior of the vehicle is prohibited. Decorating time will be assigned by RTA. Attachments must be made with string; adhesive sprays or adhesive type stickers (tape) cannot be used. All decorations must be removed from chartered vehicle at the conclusion of the charter. BEVERAGE: Due to safety precautions and to mitigate spread of COVID-19, food and beverages are not permitted on the chartered vehicle. COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, RTA has implemented that all charter guests must wear masks while on-board the charter. Max capacity for each streetcar is 75 people. All guests should maintain a safe distance to protect all passengers and RTA employees on-board. LIABILITY WAIVER: As consideration for being permitted by the RTA to charter or conduct any and all other business on or about the premises of RTA owned property and/or vehicles, inclusive of RTA streetcars and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, Charterer agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the RTA, and their respective officers, employees, volunteers, agents, contractors and representatives (collectively known as “Releases”) from any and all actions, suits, third-party claims, demands, proceedings, costs, expenses, damages and liabilities, that the charterer and/or third parties may have, or may have in the future, against the RTA for injury, death loss, expense, and/or damage, including but not limited to property damage, arising out of, connected with, or resulting from Charterer’s activities, inclusive of but not limited to chartering, decorating activities, on RTA owned vehicles and/or property.
