New Orleans RTA to relaunch agency website

  • December 21st, 2021

New Orleans, LA – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will relaunch its agency website on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at midnight, with features that make it easier for people to plan their trips and find information.

This redesign focuses on the overall customer experience with design and function improvements, easy to find content, and mobile responsiveness – meaning all the information is readily available for viewing, regardless of the device being used.

This new website design includes a newly updated trip planner, service alert enhancements, a quick reference events feed on the homepage, updates on current projects, and much more for community stakeholders. The new website streamlines information and provides a more innovative and intuitive design and user experience.

A user-centered approach informed the design and development of the new site, including prototyping and user testing. RTA’s new website is a robust and helpful tool to meet the needs of the New Orleanians of today, as they live and work in a rapidly growing demographic. The mobile-first design will benefit on-the-go ridership, who mostly view the site on their phone, and offer quick access to RTA’s public meetings and events, upcoming services improvements, plus information about RTA's capital projects.

Improvements include:

  • Trip plans and real-time arrival information can be printed and emailed
  • Service alerts appear in trip plan, real-time arrival, and schedule results

  • Improved site navigation makes content easier to access

  • Better connections between pages means information can be readily cross-referenced

  • Intuitive design and information architecture

  • Quick top navigation

The RTA website transition will begin at 12 AM Wednesday, December 22. Users should expect periodic outages until 5 AM during the transition.
