Delivering a great transit system for a greater New Orleans means transforming to meet our community’s vision. This vision was documented in the RTA’s Strategic Mobility Plan. Major components of that plan are turned into action through our $650 million 5-year Capital Investment Program (CIP). Delivering this program will make RTA more reliable faster, safer, better connected and more accessible.

Bus Rapid Transit

The RTA is planning for the region’s first bus rapid transit (BRT) system. BRT is a premium rapid transit system that uses buses to provide rail-like service but at much lower costs.

Downtown Transit Hub

The RTA is working towards a future Downtown Transit Center to be located on the site of the former Southern Railway Terminal in the neutral ground of Basin Street at Canal Street.

Mobility Hubs Improvement Project
