New Orleans RTA Honors the Life and Legacy of Rev. Jesse Jackson
- February 18th, 2026
New Orleans – The nation lost an icon yesterday with the passing of Jesse Jackson, a civil rights leader who spent his life pushing this country to confront inequality and expand opportunity.
“For decades, Rev. Jackson challenged institutions to be more inclusive and more accountable, forcing conversations about access, representation, and justice that reshaped public life,” said RTA CEO Lona Edwards Hankins. “His voice carried across generations, and his work continues to influence the fight for fairness today.”
The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority extends its condolences to Rev. Jackson’s family, loved ones, and all who were inspired by his life of service and leadership.
