- July 31st, 2025
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is providing an update on the ongoing utility work impacting the #46 Rampart–Loyola Streetcar and nearby bus routes.
A portion of the streetcar line remains out of service as crews finalize work being conducted by the Sewerage and Water Board near the intersection of N. Rampart Street and Kerlerec Street.
Here’s what’s happening:
- Last week, a key piece of equipment was installed to support streetcar operations.
- This week, crews are preparing the area for the next phase of work.
- Next week, concrete work will begin—this is one of the final steps before service can resume.
Updates regarding the completion of this Sewerage and Water Board construction projection affecting the full-service restoration of the #46 Rampart-Loyola streetcar line will be shared as soon as the schedule is finalized.
In the meantime, the #46 Rampart-Loyola streetcar will continue running between the Union Passenger Terminal (UPT) and the Canal Street Ferry Termina l. Bus routes #8 St. Claude–Arabi and #55 Elysian Fields remain on detour.
Riders are encouraged to check norta.com/rampart-work for detour maps, real-time service alerts, and updates.
RTA thanks all riders for their patience and understanding as we work with the Sewerage and Water Board to safely restore service.
