Roll with RTA This Essence Fest and Independence Day Weekend

  • June 29th, 2017

(New Orleans, LA)— RTA highly encourages riders to celebrate Essence Fest and Independence Day responsibly and let RTA’s public transportation take you to and from the events scheduled this weekend.

Many of RTA’s bus and streetcar routes provide easy, direct access to Downtown and the areas surrounding the Superdome: especially the #16, 84, 28 buses and Rampart/St.Claude streetcar. See the route maps and schedules, and use the tools on RTA’s mobile-friendly website at www.norta.com.

  • The Trip Planner helps take you from one address to another.

  • The System Map tool tells you which bus and streetcar stops are close by.

  • Our Service Alerts page indicates any temporary delays or detours on bus or streetcar lines.

Purchase a Jazzy Pass in advance at local retailers like Walgreens and Unique Grocery for unlimited rides and transfers on all RTA busses and streetcars. To find a Jazzy Pass vendor near you visit us online at http://www.norta.com/Fares-Passes/Vendor-Map

You can also GoMobile by downloading RTA’s mobile ticketing app that allows you to purchase and store Jazzy Passes directly on your smartphone. The new Integrated Pass is only available via GoMobile, and it allows unlimited rides on all busses, streetcars, and ferries for only $7 per day.

To help you celebrate Independence Day, the Canal St. /Algiers Ferry will be operating extended hours on Tuesday, July 4th, with the last ferry departing Canal St at 10:15pm. There will be a 20-minute service interruption at 9:00pm due to the fireworks display on the Mississippi River.  This fireworks display will also close service on the Riverfront Streetcar line at 9:00pm.
