RTA Board Awards Contract to Renovate Algiers Ferry Terminal

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Board of Commissioners has officially awarded a $9.5 million contract to CDW Services, LLC to renovate the historic Algiers Ferry Terminal and the adjacent Ferry Maintenance Building.
This investment will modernize one of the city’s most iconic transit gateways, improving both the rider experience and the long-term resiliency of the system. Planned improvements include:
- Removal of the outdated pedestrian bridge.
- Upgrades to the main passenger access rampfor smoother boarding.
- Redesigned circulation, landscaping, and stormwater management for a safer, more resilient terminal.
- Interior renovations to enhance community use and provide modern office space for RTA staff.
- Critical repairs to the Ferry Maintenance Building, including waterproofing, HVAC replacement, and other deferred maintenance needs.
Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the Algiers Ferry Terminal completed by September 2026 and the Ferry Maintenance Building finished by November 2026.
