RTA Title VI Public Hearing on Proposed Summer Service Changes

  • May 2nd, 2025

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will hold a Title VI public hearing during its May Riders Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting to gather public comment on proposed transit service changes. The hearing is being conducted in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which ensures that no person is excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

Date:

Time:

Location:

Wednesday, May 7, 2025

5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

RTA Headquarters, 2817 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119

Proposed service changes include:

  • Restoration and reconfiguration of the 49 (Riverfront Streetcar), which will operate along the riverfront between Julia Street and the French Market. The revised route will no longer serve Canal Street or Union Passenger Terminal.
  • Overnight service reductions on several bus routes, including significant reductions in the span of service, exceeding two hours, on Routes 91 (Jackson-Esplanade) and 103 (General Meyer.)
  • Additional minor schedule adjustments and stop removals on select routes to enhance operational efficiency.

Public participation is vital to RTA’s decision-making process. All feedback received will be considered before finalizing the service changes.

RTA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, or other protected classes.
