RTA to Offer Ferry Service from Canal Street Terminal to Gretna Heritage Festival

  • October 1st, 2025

New Orleans, LA — The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA), in partnership with the City of Gretna, will provide special event ferry service connecting downtown New Orleans to the Gretna Heritage Festival this weekend, Friday through Sunday, October 3-5. The City of Gretna is covering all costs associated with the additional ferry service.

The ferry schedule for Gretna Fest 2025 is as follows:

  • Friday, Oct. 3:4:00 p.m.-12:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 4:11:00 a.m.-12:30 a.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 5:11:00 a.m.-9:30 p.m.

RTA’s regular ferry services at Chalmette and Canal Street–Algiers Point will continue normal operations during this time.

Partnering with the City of Gretna to provide special ferry service underscores RTA’s commitment to enhancing accessibility and supporting the community by offering reliable transit options during major events.

Please note that while RTA is offering free fares systemwide on Saturday, October 4 to support voter access, this does not apply to special event ferry service for Gretna Fest. Standard, one-way ferry fares are $2 and can be purchased at ticket vending machines or through Le Pass, RTA’s official transit app. A $3 1-Day Jazzy Pass, which offers unlimited ferry, streetcar, and bus rides, is also available.

For more information about the Canal Street–Gretna Fest ferry service, visit norta.com/gretnafest, download the Le Pass app, or call the Rideline at (504) 248-3900.
