RTA to Offer Free Rides During Early Voting and Election Day
- September 22nd, 2025
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will provide free bus, streetcar, and ferry rides to all riders on both Saturdays of early voting, September 27 and October 4, as well as on Election Day, Saturday, October 11 during the 2025 New Orleans election cycle. This initiative supports access to polling sites across the city by removing transportation barriers for voters
No voter registration proof is required to ride free on these days. Riders are encouraged to use the Le Pass app to plan their trip to the polls.
In 2020, the RTA Board of Commissioners approved a resolution adopted by the New Orleans City Council to eliminate fares on official election days, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to building an accessible transit system for all New Orleanians.
For more information, visit the RTA website at norta.com, download the Le Pass app, or call the Rideline at (504) 248-3900.
