RTA transit routes available to connect to community resources after storm

Emergency Resource Centers, Community Lighthouses


NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans has announced additional post-Hurricane Francine resources available to the public today (Friday, Sept. 13). Please note that the RTA is back to offering its regular full-service bus schedule on all transit routes throughout the city. See below for the RTA routes that provide convenient access to each of the following resources:


EMERGENCY RESOURCE CENTERS 
The following New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission recreation centers will be open as Emergency Resource Centers on Friday, Sept. 13 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. for cooling and device charging: 


Rosenwald Recreation Center (1120 S. Broad St.) - 9 Broad-Napoleon, stop at Erato. 

  • Spanish interpretation available  
  • Oxygen exchange available 


Cutoff Recreation Center (6600 Belgrade St.)  – 103 General Meyer Local, stop at Carver. 114A Garden Oaks – Sullen, stop at Carver. 

  • Oxygen exchange available 


Joe Brown Recreation Center (5601 Read Blvd.) – 9 Broad-Napoleon, stop at Dwyer. 61 Lake Forest – Village de L’Est, stop at Dwyer. 62 Morrison-Bullard, stop at Lake Forest Library Hub. 66 Hayne Loop, stop at Lake Forest Library Hub. 67 Michoud Loop, stop at Lake Forest Library Hub. 68 Little Woods Loop, stop at Lake Forest Library Hub. 

 

Treme Recreation Center (900 N. Villere St.) – 8 St. Claude-Arabi, stop at Ursulines. 32 Leonidas-Treme, stop at Marais or N. Villere. 51 St. Bernard-Claiborne, stop at Dumaine. 52 Paris-Broadmoor, stop at Dumaine. 55 Elysian Fields, stop at Ursulines. 57 Franklin-Freret, stop at Dumaine. 46 Rampart-Loyola Streetcar, stop at Ursulines.

  • Oxygen exchange available  


If oxygen is needed outside of the listed hours, residents can contact the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) non-emergency line at (504) 821-2222.  

  

COMMUNITY LIGHTHOUSES 
Together New Orleans has activated the following Community Lighthouse locations for cooling and device charging: 

  • Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (1823 Washington Ave.) – 12 St. Charles Streetcar, stop at Washington. 57 Franklin-Freret, stop at Washington. 27 Louisiana, stop at Baronne or Danneel.  
  • Broadmoor Community Church, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (2021 S. Dupre St.) – 9 Broad-Napoleon, stop at Fontainebleau or General Pershing. 27 Louisiana, stop at S. Broad. 52 Paris-Broadmoor, stop at S. Broad.  
  • First Grace UMC, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (3401 Canal St.) – 47 Canal Streetcar-Cemeteries, stop at Norman C. Francis. 48 Canal Streetcar-City Park, stop at Norman C. Francis.  
  • Trinity Community Center, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.  (3908 Joliet St.) – 3 Tulane-Elmwood, stop at Washington or Palmetto. 31 Leonidas-Gentilly, stop at Palm/Cambronne or Palmetto/Cambronne. 32 Leonidas-Treme, stop at Palm/Cambronne or Palmetto/Cambronne. 27 Louisiana, stop at Palmetto/S. Carrollton or Washington/S. Carrollton.
