Reporting Obstructions and Service Impacts
To ensure the safety of our riders and the reliability of our service, RTA requires notification of any project, event, or construction that impacts our transit lines.
Bus & Ferry Service Notification
Mandatory notification for road/terminal impacts.
A Right-of-Way Permit is not required for disruptions affecting bus or ferry service. However, contractors, event organizers, and municipal partners must notify RTA of any activity that impedes transit right-of-way or access to terminals.
You must submit a notification for:
- Bus: Any partial or full lane closures on transit routes, or work blocking a bus stop.
- Ferry: Any work impeding access to the Chalmette or Algiers Point terminal.
How to notify us:
Click our Online Notification Form. Select “Bus/Ferry” to access the RTA’s online notification form. RTA requests notification at least 5 business days in advance of the planned disruption (unless it is an emergency repair).
The form will ask for the following information:
Type of Impact: Construction/roadwork, special event/parade, utility/emergency repair, filming/production, vehicle blocking route/track, bus stop inaccessible (debris/vegetation)
Location: Specific intersection, address, or ferry terminal name
Duration: Start date/time and end date/time
On-site contact: Name and phone number
Details: Describe exactly what is blocked.
