- April 3rd, 2026
New Orleans, LA — The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) announces that Algiers Point–Canal Street Ferry service will resume at 10:00 a.m. today Friday April 3, 2026 following the completion of scheduled demolition work associated with the Algiers Point Ferry Terminal renovation project.
The temporary suspension allowed construction crews to safely carry out demolition activities as part of the $11.4 million Algiers Ferry Terminal renovation, which is focused on improving safety, accessibility, and the overall passenger experience.
RTA thanks residents and riders for their patience and understanding during this brief service interruption as work continues to advance critical upgrades to the ferry terminal.
