Chalmette Ferry Out of Service Indefinitely

New Orleans – The Lower Algiers–Chalmette Ferry is currently out of service until further notice following a routine inspection of the Chalmette Ferry bridge conducted by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD), during which issues were identified.
At this time, there is no estimated timeline for the resumption of service. Riders are encouraged to plan accordingly and utilize alternate routes while the ferry remains unavailable.
For updates on the status of the ferry and bridge, riders are encouraged to visit the LADOTD website at https://dotd.la.gov/ and The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will continue to share updates as information becomes available.
