RTA Providing Fare-Free Transportation for Early Voting and Election Day

  • October 23rd, 2026

New Orleans, LA – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is making it easier for you to get to the polls. All riders can ride RTA buses, streetcars, and ferries fare-free on Saturday, October 24, for early voting and Tuesday, November 3, for Election Day.

You will not need proof of voter registration or identification to ride for free. Simply board and ride.

Before you go, use the Le Pass app to plan your trip and track your ride in real time.

"Access to transportation should never stand in the way of participation in our democratic process," said RTA Interim CEO Ronald Baptiste Jr. "By providing fare-free service during early voting and on Election Day, RTA is helping remove transportation as a barrier and making it easier for people across New Orleans to get to the polls.

The initiative reflects RTA's commitment to equitable mobility and civic engagement throughout the communities it serves.

For route information and trip planning assistance, visit norta.com, download the Le Pass app, or contact Rideline at 504 248-3900.
