RTA Reminders: Friday Ferry Hours and Free Rides Saturday as We “Roll to the Polls”
- October 31st, 2025
Agency readies for Halloween Friday operations and fare-free Saturday service to support early voting during the municipal runoff election.
New Orleans, LA — The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is gearing up for Halloween—one of the busiest nights of the year. From 3 PM to 3 AM today, three additional buses will supplement the St. Charles Avenue and Canal Street streetcar lines to accommodate increased ridership during tonight’s festivities. Riders are also reminded that the Canal Street/Algiers Point ferry operates until 10:45 PM on Fridays and should plan their trips accordingly.
As part of its ongoing Roll to the Polls campaign, the RTA is once again picking up the tab for riders heading to vote. All bus, streetcar, and ferry rides will be free on both early voting Saturdays, November 1 and November 8, and on Election Day, November 15. The goal is simple: to make sure getting to the polls is never out of reach for anyone in New Orleans.
Launched in 2020 and supported by both the RTA Board of Commissioners and the New Orleans City Council, this initiative makes fare-free transit on election days a permanent part of how we serve the city — keeping access, inclusion, and community at the heart of how New Orleans rolls.
