RTA “Rolls to the Bowl” for Superbowl LIX in New Orleans

  • February 6th, 2025

Celebration featured ribbon cutting, mini-tour

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is proud to announce its “Roll to the Bowl” service plan, ensuring residents, workers, and visitors can seamlessly travel throughout the city leading up to and during Super Bowl LIX. With enhanced transit services, route detours, and street closures in place, RTA is fully prepared to meet the needs of New Orleans' vibrant communities and the many fans arriving to celebrate this iconic event.

RTA CEO Lona Edwards Hankins stated: “Our goal is to keep New Orleans rolling, especially during a time of increased traffic and activity. We’re not new to this given our history of being the most-selected city hosting Superbowl so we know the drill: to support both our locals and our visitors as they experience all the excitement of our great city.”

Plan Highlights

Service Adjustments

  • Several routes—including #8, #32, and #55—will follow detour paths to avoid street closures and high-traffic
  • Special accommodations will be in place for the Main Library Hub and Union Passenger Terminal (UPT) to ease transfers.

Street Closures

  • Closures will impact LaSalle, Poydras, Girod, and Canal streets on February 9 and February 10, 2025, to accommodate game-day and Super Bowl-related activities.

Visitor Services, Passes and Fares

  • Tourists and fans can download the RTA Le Pass app for real-time updates, trip planning, and fare payment.
  • Passes and fares are available through the app, at select metro-area Walgreens, or in person at the Canal Street facility (2817 Canal Street).

For real-time updates: call (504) 248-3900, visit norta.com/superbowl, or text “RTA Updates” to 41411.

Press inquiries and interview requests should be directed to Zach Stanfill at zstanfill@rtaforward.org.
