RTA Underscores Commitment to Improving Paratransit Services with Focused Roadmap

  • December 4th, 2024

NEW ORLEANS - Despite recent articles suggesting otherwise, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) reaffirms its dedication to delivering exceptional paratransit services to the community. A recent internal performance audit, commissioned by the Interim Chief Transit Officer under the direction of CEO Lona Edwards Hankins, is a proactive step toward creating a clear roadmap for improvements.

“This audit is an important tool for identifying opportunities to enhance RTA Paratransit,” said CEO Lona Edwards Hankins. “It reflects our commitment to transparency and our determination to address both internal processes and external service delivery to better serve our community.”

RTA has already begun implementing measures to address the audit’s findings, including system and vehicle upgrades, improved training, and stronger accountability mechanisms. These efforts demonstrate the agency’s focus on ensuring its paratransit services operate at the highest standards.

“Our goal remains clear: to provide dependable, accessible, and efficient paratransit services for the New Orleans community,” added Hankins.

RTA remains committed in its mission to deliver safe and equitable transit solutions while maintaining transparency and accountability.
