Read the Chair’s Message to the RTA Team

Dear RTA Team:

I want to take a moment to update you directly on the search for RTA’s next Chief Executive Officer. Every day, you keep this agency moving and serve our riders and community. The selection of a leader who will support that work matters deeply. To guide this effort, the Board engaged KL2 Connects, LLC, a transit executive recruitment firm, to conduct a national search.

Through that search, KL2 identified and presented five semifinalists to the Board. On August 29, the Board interviewed all five and, following those interviews, publicly voted to narrow the field to three finalists. Since then, the Board has been notified that one finalist has withdrawn from consideration.

At its September 22 meeting, the Board will consider a resolution to advance the next-ranked candidate from the original group of five, restoring the candidate pool to three. If approved, all three candidates will participate in a community forum and then meet with the Board for in-person interviews in October. The Board expects to select and announce RTA’s next CEO at its October meeting.

Throughout this process, the Board has valued the engagement of Mayor Helena Moreno, union leadership, our employees, riders, and the New Orleans community. We share the same goal: selecting an outstanding leader who will support our workforce, improve service, strengthen public confidence, and move RTA forward.

Thank you for your patience, professionalism, and continued commitment. Your work is essential to this agency, and it will remain at the center of the Board’s decision as we select RTA’s next Chief Executive Officer.
