St. Charles Streetcar Service Adjustments

The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) continues rail infrastructure improvement along the St. Charles Streetcar Line. The Carrollton Double Crossover Project and the Harmony Circle Track Replacement Project will improve accessibility, address critical infrastructure needs, and support the long-term reliability of one of New Orleans' most iconic transit corridors.
RTA is operating a temporary bus bridges while maintaining active streetcar service on the S. Carrollton section of the line.
Service is currently operating as follows:
Active Streetcar Service
St. Charles Ave. between Canal St. and the Riverbend at Carrollton Ave. and St. Charles Ave.
Bus Bridge
Running from Carrollton Avenue & St. Charles Avenue to Carrollton Avenue & Claiborne Avenue.
The Carrollton Double Crossover Project will relocate sections of rail and overhead electrical wiring near the line’s terminus at Carrollton and Claiborne Avenues. The work will support accessibility improvements at the streetcar stop in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Construction is expected to last approximately six months.
Now Completed Work
At Harmony Circle, RTA will replaced deteriorated sections of track that have affected St. Charles Streetcar service since July 6. These repairs were necessary to restore reliable service through this portion of the line.
